I don't say that from a mechanics standpoint, but from an aesthetic one. That said, you probably picked one of the more boring classes. I tend to stay away from mods until I've experienced as much of the vanilla game as possible, which includes really messing with all four classes quite thoroughly. I don't have any skills at the moment, but it's still fun to hit people with a hammer! After that I think I'm going to try some of these major mods. I've just started a melee Engineer, with an aim to building up/using charges, so we'll see how that goes. It would be a good choice for hardcore, that's for sure. There's just so little risk of you actually being killed. The summoner engineer is by far the easiest class I've played. As with most games these days, they start off really hard but get progressively easier as you progress. I'm playing on Elite, however I would like something like the extra difficulty sliders that D3 uses now (an amazing, and bold, change to D3). I'd quite like some sort of survival horde mode mod if there is one too, that would be fun. I've just installed an infinite dungeon mod which looks really cool, just tried to go into it with a new character and it was really tough. There just doesn't seem to be much point to end game, I tried NG+ for a bit, but was getting bored of my character(s) by then as there is no need to diversify really. Yeah, I've not got into end-game yet, I've more just played through to the end then started another character.

There are tons of cool characters available in mods. Like I just can't get on with the Witch Doctor in D3, despite loving the character concept. maybe the Embermage just isn't for you in this game. Go to Steam Workshop and order by all time best to start your search.Īlso, try a different character. D3 has the flexible skill system, PoE has awesome hardcore, T2 has mods. The big thing that Torchlight 2 brings to the genre is mods. I personally find the lack of being able to respec something I can no longer tolerate in the genre (except for hardcore) since being spoiled with D3's great dynamic skill system that encourages experimentation. There is a mod that adds a respec potion to vendors.

The first game I played was on Veteran and I became bored towards the end as there was no real challenge. A few things that helped me enjoy the game:Īre you playing on Elite? It sounds like you're a veteran of the genre and therefore really should be playing it on Elite to get maximum enjoyment out of the game.
